5 selected shopping sites to give back to a society

Last article I wrote about how to buy and help a society but even I it's still just the ideal to investigate sellers or producers how good or bad. It's hard to do! Especially in Thailand we didn't have any organizations to do this job but somehow in USA they have organizations or websites to do that. So they can investigate just only big companies or brand. You can read more about this on HOW TO: Use the Web for Socially Responsible Shopping by Mashable to be a guideline.

Today I skip over the investigation and look at the cool product on websites you can buy and give back to a society. I can tell you that's not in Thailand but if I can have some information for Thailand I will tell you for sure.

คราวที่แล้วเขียนบทความว่าจะซื้อสินค้ายังไงให้สนับสนุนหรือช่วยเหลือสังคม นึกๆ ดูแล้วมันก็อุดมคติมากๆ เรื่องจะไปตรวจสอบผู้ขายผู้ผลิตว่าดีจริงไหม ทำยากนะ โดยเฉพาะเมืองไทย เราไม่มีองค์กรอิสระใดๆ ที่ทำหน้าที่ตรงนี้อย่างชัดเจน แต่ในเมืองนอก เขามีองค์กร หรือเว็บไซต์อิสระที่คอยตรวจสอบเรื่องเหล่านี้อยู่เหมือน ซึ่งมันตรวจสอบเฉพาะบริษัทใหญ่ หรือ Brand ดังๆ นั่นแหล่ะ ลองอ่านบทความ HOW TO: Use the Web for Socially Responsible Shopping ของ Mashable เป็นแนวทางได้

วันนี้ขอเว้นเรื่องตรวจสอบ และหันมาดูว่า มีสินค้าเท่ๆ อะไรบ้างที่ใช้แล้วช่วยเหลือสังคมได้บ้าง ขอบอกว่าอาจจะมีเฉพาะเมืองนอกก่อนนะครับ เมืองไทย ไว้หาข้อมูลได้ก่อนจะนำมาแนะนำกันอีกที

By One for One campaign, TOMS would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. TOMS started to give first to Argentina where this story happened in 2006. Blake Mycoskie, an American traveler, befriended children in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. So he created TOMS Shoes and did One for One campaign which those shoes were inspired by a native Argentina shoe. Blake returned to Argentina with a group of family, friends and staff later that year with 10,000 pairs of shoes made possible by caring TOMS customers. Since his beginning, TOMS has given over 150,000 pairs of shoes to children in need in 3 years. TOMS plans to give over 300,000 pairs of shoes to children in need around the world in 2009.

Look at this website you will know how cool TOMS shoes are and make want to buy one. But it's not a cheap one! Nowadays you can't order it to Thailand but if you are there in USA, just tell me.

ด้วย Campaign “One for One” ของ TOMS ที่ให้สัญญาว่ารองเท้าหนึ่งคู่ที่ขายได้ บริษัทจะมอบรองเท้าหนึ่งคู่ให้กับเด็กที่ประเทศยากจนทั่วโลก ซึ่งเขาได้เริ่มให้ที่อาร์เจนตินาก่อน เพราะเรื่องราวทั้งหมดเกิดขึ้นในปี 2006 ที่ Blake Mycoskie (อเมริกัน) ได้ไปเที่ยวอาร์เจนตินา แล้วพบว่าเด็กๆ ที่นั่นไม่มีแม้แต่รองเท้าที่จะปกป้องเท้าของพวกเขา เขาจึงกลับมาตั้งบริษัท TOMS Shoes และได้คิด Campaign “One for One” ขึ้นมา โดยรองเท้าที่ออกแบบก็ได้รับแรงบันดาลใจมาจากรองเท้าพื้นเมืองของอาเจนตินา ซึ่งในปีแรก เขาได้แจกรองเท้าไป 10,000 คู่ ทุกวันนี้ TOMS ได้มอบรองเท้าไปแล้วมากกว่า 150,000 คู่ ภายในระยะเวลาแค่ 3 ปี (รองเท้าของ TOMS คู่ละประมาณ 45 เหรียญ ก็แค่ 675,000 เหรียญ หรือกว่า 22,950,000 บาทนั่นเอง) และตั้งเป้าจะมอบรองเท้ามากกว่า 300,000 คู่ให้กับเด็กๆ ทั่วโลกในปี 2009

ลองเข้าไปดูในเว็บก็จะรู้ว่ารองเท้าของ TOMS นั้นเท่สุดๆ จนผมอยากได้มาครอบครองสักคู่ แต่ก็แพงไม่ใช่เล่น ตอนนี้ยังไม่สามารถสั่งซื้อมาจาก USA ได้ ใครอยู่แถวนั้นช่วยบอกที

TWLOHA is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for those struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire, and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery. To Write Love on Her Arms began in Orlando, FL in February 2006 as a (written) story, the true story of five days spent with a friend who was denied entry into a drug treatment center. The story was a look at those five days, and the t-shirts were printed and sold initially as a way to pay for our friend's treatment.

At first I had no clue about TWLOHA but I was a net surfer throgh Mypace very often. When I opened Switchfoot page on Myspace, I saw TWLOHA's banner. I realized that Switchfoot supported this movement that made me interested. I saw many cool t-shirt and brought one, TWLOHA red logo but inside have had a lyric "We are broken" from Paramore that I crazied in that time. The t-shirt quality is good, American Apparel, and look great with me.

TWLOHA มันคืออะไร มันคือองค์กรหรือการเคลื่อนไหวแบบไม่แสวงหากำไร เพื่อแสดงให้รู้ว่าโลกนี้ยังมีหวัง และเข้าไปช่วยเหลือคนที่กำลังมีปัญหาความหดหู่ การเสพติด การทำร้ายตัวเอง และการฆ่าตัวตาย TWLOHA ยังมีส่วนในการสนับสนุน ให้กำลังใจ ให้ความรู้ รวมถึงการเข้าไปรักษาและเยียวยาให้หาย TWLOHA เริ่มต้นจากเรื่องราวกลุ่มเพื่อนใน Orlando ในเดือนกุมภาพันธ์ ปี 2006 ที่เข้าไปช่วยเหลือเพื่อนของเขาปฏิเสธการเข้ารักษาการติดยา โดยเวลา 5 วันเหล่านั้น พวกเขาได้เขียนเรื่องราวประสบการณ์ต่างๆ และได้ทำ T-shirt เพื่อหาเงินสนับสนุนการรักษาอาการติดยาของเพื่อน
ที่แรกผมก็ไม่รู้จักหรอก TWLOHA หรอก แต่ผมเป็นพวกชอบเปิดเว็บไปเรื่อยๆ ช่วงนั้นใช้ myspace บ่อย พอเข้าไปดูข้อมูลวง Switchfoot ก็เห็นมี Banner ของ TWLOHA อยู่เลยเข้าไปดูก็เห็นวงสนับสนุน Movement นี้ด้วยก็เลยสนใจ แถมยังมีเสื้อสวยๆ เพียบให้เลือก ก็เลยซื้อมา 1 ตัว เป็นโลโก้สีแดง ข้างในเสื้อมีเนื้อเพลง We are broken ของ Paramore อยู่ข้างในด้วย ช่วงนั้นกำลังคลั่ง Paramore เสื้อก็โอเคนะ American Apparel ผ้าดี ใส่แล้วเท่

3. Invisible Children

In the spring of 2003, three young filmmakers traveled to Africa in search of a story. What started out as a filmmaking adventure transformed into much more when these boys from Southern California discovered a tragedy that disgusted and inspired them, a tragedy where children are both the weapons and the victims.

After returning to the States, they created the documentary "Invisible Children: Rough Cut," a film that exposes the tragic realities of northern Uganda.s night commuters and child soldiers.

The film was originally shown to friends and family, but has now been seen by millions of people. The overwhelming response has been, "How can I help?" To answer this question, the non-profit Invisible Children, Inc. was created, giving compassionate individuals an effective way to respond to the situation.

About the designs, Invisible Children is awesome. I can see many stuffs are cool and elegant, even shirt and tie you can buy for an office day. I want a shirt likes this long time ago and wondering why they let me wears something like Abercrombie & Fitch.

ฤดูใบไม้ผลิปี 2003 ผู้สร้างภาพยนตร์หน้าใหม่ ได้เดินทางไปแอฟริกาเพื่อจะหาพล็อตมาทำหนัง ซึ่งจริงๆ แล้ว มันมากไปกว่าการพจญภัยของคนทำหนังที่ตั้งใจไว้ เพราะมันได้แปรเปลี่ยนไปเป็นการค้นพบกับโศกนาฎกรรมที่น่าสะอิดสะเอียน ซึ่งเด็กๆ ได้ถูกใช้เป็นอาวุธและเหยื่อในเวลาเดียวกัน

หลังจากกลับมาที่อเมริกา พวกเขาได้ทำสารคดีที่ชื่อ “Invisible Children: Rough Cut” ที่ถ่ายทอดความจริงที่ภาคเหนือของประเทศอูกานดาที่ใช้เด็กเป็นทหาร

เมื่อภาพยนตร์ได้ถูกเผยแพร่ไปสู่คนเป็นล้านๆ คน ก็มีคำถามว่า “แล้วผมจะช่วยได้อย่างไร” คำตอบก็คือการตั้งองค์กร Invisible Children ที่ไม่แสวงหาผลกำไร เพื่อสร้างสรร ให้ความเมตตาต่อผู้ที่ได้รับผลกระทบในเหตุการณ์นี้

เรื่อง Design Invisible Children ก็ไม่แพ้ใคร มีทั้งสวยเรียบ สวยเท่ ขนาดเสื้อเชิร์ตและไทด์ยังมีเลยอ่ะ ซึ่งผมก็คิดตั้งนานว่าทำไมมันเพิ่งจะมีวะ ปล่อยให้เราใส่เสื้อ Abercrombie & Fitchอะไรก็ไม่รู้อยู่ตั้งนาน

WWF is a non-profit organization that works on both global and local environmental issues. You may reconize WWF logo in a cute panda. Much of their work is in areas where the most critically endangered wildlife and the least protected habitats are found. They believe that the origins of many environmental problems lie in developed countries and in our attitudes and behaviour - for example, our consumption of natural resources. The vast majority of these focus on local issues. They range from school nature gardens in Zambia, to initiatives that appear on the packaging in your local supermarket. From the restoration of orangutan habitats to the establishment of giant panda reserves.

After I have check out The WWF shops in many countries , The UK' one seem to be the most exciting shop of all. Because they have from cute designed bags, cool t-shirts, animal toys, dressing gowns to fair trade zebra print satchel. Apart from The UK, The USA shop made a contract with Play Fish, the maker of Pet Society game in Facebook, to created special items for WWF. By 10 percents from a profit will give to WWF which guarantee at least 50,000 US dollars per annual by Play Fish.

WWF คือองค์กรที่ทำงานด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมทั้งในระดับโลกและท้องถิ่น มีโลโก้เป็นรูปแพนด้าสุดน่ารักที่ใครๆ ก็น่าจะเคยเห็น งานส่วนใหญ่ของ WWF เกี่ยวกับการปกป้องการทำร้ายสัตว์ป่า ทาง WWF เชื่อว่าต้นกำเนิดของปัญหาสิ่งแวดล้อมทั้งหลายเกิดจากพฤติกรรมและทัศนคติของคนในประเทศที่พัฒนาแล้ว เช่น การบริโภคและใช้ทรัพยากรธรรมชาติกันแบบไม่ระมัดระวัง กิจกรรมของ WWF มีตั้งแต่ โรงเรียนสวนพฤษศาสตร์ในแซมเบีย หรือการรณรงค์เรื่องหีบห่อในซุปเปอร์มาร์เก็ต การดูแลลิงอุรังอุตัง หรือแม้แต่การเข้าไปอนุรักษ์พันธุ์หมีแพนด้า

เท่าที่สำรวจ Shop ของ WWF ในหลายๆ ประเทศ ที่ UK ดูจะน่าตื่นตาตื่นใจที่สุด เพราะมีตั้งแต่ถุงผ้าดีไซน์น่ารักๆ เสื้อยืดเท่ๆ ตุ๊กตานานาสัตว์ เสื้อคลุมอาบน้ำ ไปจนถึงย่ามลายม้าลาย ในขณะที่ USA นั้น WWF ได้เชื่อมโยงกับ Play Fish ผู้ผลิตเกมส์ Pet Society ใน Facebookได้สร้าง Item พิเศษสำหรับ WWF โดยที่รายได้จากการขาย item 10% จะถูกบริจาคให้ WWF ซึ่ง Play Fish ก็การันตีการบริจาคต่อปีไว้ขั้นต่ำ 50,000 เหรียญ

The fact is there are many other organizations that provide some cool products like this. Someday I will introduce some cool product from Thailand too but now I can't find the information from Internet. If someone have some interesting information, please comment it in this post or email me.

จริงๆ มันก็มีองค์กรที่ช่วยเหลือสังคมอื่นๆ มีสินค้าสุดเท่อีกเยอะแยะที่ยังไม่ได้เอามาแนะนำ แน่นอนว่า คงจะต้องมีการแนะนำสินค้าในไทยบ้าง แต่ตอนนี้ยังหาข้อมูลในอินเทอร์เน็ตไม่เจอ ถ้าใครมีอะไรน่าสนใจ ก็สามารถแนะนำมาได้นะครับ
